For Connecticut contractors
How does SpotTheJob work?
SpotTheJob watches public neighborhood groups across Connecticut and sends you a matching job by email or text when a homeowner in your towns asks for your trade. On average that alert goes out about ten minutes after they post. You reply on the original thread. It is not a lead marketplace.
01
Tell us your trade and the towns you actually drive to
Start with the form on this site: your name, your trade, your phone. That is enough for us to reach you. Before any alerts go out, we confirm coverage: the counties you work, the jobs you want, and the ones you do not. A plumber in Milford should not get a roof job in Torrington.
02
We walk through the groups you will start seeing jobs from
This is not a mystery feed. After signup we work with you so you know which neighborhood groups and communities the alerts are coming from. Homeowners in Connecticut ask for help in local Facebook groups every day. You should know which of those threads you are about to show up in.
03
Software watches the groups so you do not have to
We monitor public community posts around the clock. Filters drop ads, people looking for a job, and posts outside the towns you cover. What is left is a homeowner asking for your kind of work. You stay on the job. We do the scrolling.
04
The job hits your phone. You reply on the original thread
On average the alert goes out about ten minutes after the homeowner posts, by email or text. You open the original post and comment as yourself. We do not bid for you, we do not put your name on a list, and we do not auction the lead. Showing up early is the whole product.
Most lead products sell you a phone number that already went to ten other contractors. This is the opposite: a public post from a homeowner who is asking right now, delivered while you can still be one of the first people to reply.
What an alert actually looks like
You do not get a vague “lead in your area.” You get the post: the trade, the town, how fresh it is, and what the homeowner wrote. Something like this.
“Sump failed, water in basement. Existing quote over $7k. Wants another plumber ASAP.”
That is why the alert exists: so you see the post while the homeowner is still reading replies, not hours later.
What we send, and what we drop
The software is only useful if it is quiet when it should be quiet. After we confirm your trade and service area, every post is matched against that. If a filter is wrong, tell Will. He would rather hear it than keep sending junk.
You get the post
- A homeowner asking for a trade you actually do
- A town or county you said you drive to
- A post that is still new enough to reply
It never leaves the filter
- Ads, spam, and people selling services
- Hiring posts and job-seekers
- Work outside your towns or your trade
What you do when it hits
SpotTheJob gets you to the thread. You still have to be the contractor worth hiring. Open the original post. Reply on the thread, and DM the homeowner if you can. Say who you are, whether you are licensed, and when you can look at it. Homeowners usually hire someone from the first few replies who sounds like they can start.
Each alert includes a suggested reply. You still post it on the original thread yourself.
How do Connecticut contractors get jobs from Facebook groups?
Homeowners ask for plumbers, electricians, landscapers, and other trades in local groups every day. Most contractors never see those posts, or they see them hours later. SpotTheJob monitors the groups, matches the post to your trade and towns, and alerts you so you can reply while the thread is still new.
How fast are the job alerts?
On average a matching job hits your email or text about ten minutes after the homeowner posts. That is the point: show up before the thread is thirty comments deep. We do not batch alerts at the end of the day and hope you catch up after dinner.
Do I pay per lead?
No. SpotTheJob is a flat monthly subscription in the hundreds, not thousands, for as many matching jobs as we find. There is a free trial with no credit card. We do not charge per lead. This is not a marketplace where you buy a phone number.
Which Connecticut counties do you cover?
All eight: Fairfield County, Hartford County, Litchfield County, Middlesex County, New Haven County, New London County, Tolland County, and Windham County. You pick the counties you actually drive to. We do not send jobs an hour out of your way, and we do not pretend this is a national lead mill.
