For HVAC contractors

How do HVAC techs get jobs from neighborhood groups?

When a furnace dies in January or an AC quits in July, homeowners post in the neighborhood group before they fill out a lead form. SpotTheJob sends those posts to HVAC contractors by email or text, about ten minutes after they go up, so you can reply while the thread is still new.

The house is cold or it is 92 degrees and the unit is blowing warm air. They ask the group because they want a tech tonight, not a round of estimates next week.

  • Timing is the miss

You already beat the national chains when you see the post. If you find it after dinner, three other vans already offered a window.

  • Repair today, replacement later

Angi puts a typical HVAC repair around $350. A full system replacement averages $7,500, and can reach $22,000 with ductwork.

  • Not a bid board

Matching HVAC posts hit your phone. You comment as yourself. Flat monthly in the hundreds, not thousands, and a free trial with no credit card.

Reaching a lead in 5 minutes versus 30 makes contact about 100x more likely. MIT, 2007

What an HVAC alert looks like

No-heat, no-cool, and replacement posts, the way they actually read.

“Furnace not kicking on and it is supposed to be in the 20s tonight. Have two kids in the house. Need an HVAC person who can come out.”

“AC blowing warm air since this morning. Unit is 14 years old. Looking for someone who can diagnose today, not next week.”

“Need quotes on a new furnace. Current one is 20 years old and the tech said it is on borrowed time. Licensed and insured only.”

What we send, and what we drop

You get the post

  • No-heat, no-cool, boiler, and replacement posts in HVAC
  • Towns you cover, not a job an hour away
  • Threads that are still new enough to be first

It never leaves the filter

  • Appliance repair, window AC marketplace ads, and spam
  • People looking for an HVAC helper job
  • Plumbing or electrical posts that are not HVAC

What you do when it hits

Reply on the thread and DM if you can. For no-heat, say when you can be there and that you are licensed. Homeowners in a cold house hire the first tech who sounds like they will actually show up.

We include a suggested reply with the alert. You still copy it onto the thread.

Do HVAC group posts only show up in winter and summer?

No-heat posts spike in cold snaps and no-cool posts spike in heat waves. Shoulder months still produce tune-ups, replacements, and 'the system is making a noise' threads. We match HVAC year round. You tell us if you want to pause a season.

Will I get replacement quotes or just service calls?

Both. Groups mix 'can anyone come tonight' with 'we need three quotes on a new system.' We send the post. You decide if it is a service call, a repair, or a replacement conversation. We do not score the ticket for you.

Do I pay per HVAC lead?

No. One flat monthly rate in the hundreds for as many matching jobs as we find, plus a free trial. We do not charge per lead. This is not a bid board.
