Who is behind SpotTheJob?
SpotTheJob is run by Will, a New York and Connecticut native who started the company in 2026. He built it so home-service contractors can hear about homeowners who are already looking for their trade — without living in Facebook groups all day.
Meet Will
Will is a business owner who writes software. He has seen first-hand what it is like to chase work in neighborhood groups: you are already on a job, you check your phone, and the thread has thirty comments. That is the problem SpotTheJob is built to solve. He would rather have software watch those groups than have you do it with your thumb.
The legal entity behind the brand is Tietjen Holdings LLC, a Connecticut limited liability company doing business as SpotTheJob. Will is the person you email. There is not a call center and not a sales floor. If a filter is wrong or a town is missing, it comes back to him.
Why SpotTheJob exists
Homeowners in local neighborhood groups ask for plumbers, electricians, landscapers, and other trades every day. Most contractors never see those posts, or they see them hours later when the thread is a pile-on. The other option is paying a marketplace $50 for a lead that went to ten other people.
Will started SpotTheJob to sit in the middle of that gap. The software watches public community posts around the clock, matches them to the trades and towns a contractor actually covers, and sends the job by email or text. On average that alert goes out about ten minutes after the homeowner posts. You reply on the original thread. We do not auction the lead and we do not put your name in a bid list.
The goal is simple: save you the time and effort of watching forums, and put you in a position to be one of the first people to respond. Homeowners usually hire someone from the first few replies. Showing up early is the whole game.
How Will actually runs it
This is not a black box dumped on a contractor and walked away from. After you sign up, we confirm your trade and service area before alerts start. Filters drop ads, job-seekers, and posts outside the towns you drive to. We also work with you so you know which groups and communities you can expect to start seeing jobs from — not a mystery feed, the actual places homeowners in your towns are posting. If a match is noisy, Will would rather hear it than keep sending junk.
Pricing is a flat monthly subscription in the hundreds, not thousands, for as many matching jobs as we find. There is a free trial with no credit card. There is no per-lead fee. That is deliberate. Will did not want to build another marketplace that charges per lead.
We currently focus on Connecticut contractors, across all eight counties, because that is where Will can stand behind the coverage. You pick the counties you actually work. We do not pretend this is a national lead mill.
Who owns SpotTheJob?
Will owns SpotTheJob. He started it in 2026. He is a NY/CT native and a software developer who has seen first-hand what it is like to chase jobs in neighborhood groups. He built it so contractors get matching homeowner work in minutes instead of spending the day scrolling. Email him at will@spotthejob.com.
Is SpotTheJob a lead marketplace?
No. SpotTheJob does not sell shared leads or run a bidding board. We watch local groups and alert you when a homeowner in your towns asks for your trade. You reply on the original post. Monthly subscription with a free trial, not pay-per-lead. The company is Tietjen Holdings LLC d/b/a SpotTheJob.
